Cyberpunk designer says CDPR is working on transgender character options

After a week of controversy over the portrayal of a sexualized transgender woman Cyberpunk, a CD developer Projekt Red told Gamasutra that the team hoped to allow a better representation of gender equality through the creator of the character in play.

Tomaskiewicz: Of course. This is a very sensitive and important subject, I believe. We have thought a lot about that. One of the things we want to do in the last game (which we did not show in the demo yet, because as you mentioned, it's a work in progress) is to give players as many options of customization possible at the beginning of the game as we can.

For example, we want to do this thing when, when you create your character, once you have chosen the body type, you can, for example, use physical traits to create your face, which could be assigned to a man or to a woman.

Gamasutra: Or not binary?

Tomaskiewicz: Or nonbinary. The idea is to mix all this, to give it to the players, as they would like to build it. Same thing for the voice. We wanted to separate this so that players could choose it freely. It's something we're still working on, it's not as easy as it looks.
