The richest man in the Czech Republic has died after a helicopter carrying guests on a heli-skiing tour crashed into a mountain in Alaska, officials said Monday.
Petr Kellner, 56, was among five dead in Saturday night’s crash. A man, David Horvath, 48, from the Czech Republic, survived and was listed in serious condition, according to the AP.
The other victims included another citizen of the Czech Republic, two residents of Alaska and a man from Colorado.
Among the passengers were two staff from the Tordrillo Mountain Lodge, a company spokesperson told the AP, where the others were believed to be.
“This news is devastating for our staff, the community in which we operate and the families of the deceased,” the lodge told the AP in a statement.
Kellner’s net worth was estimated to be around $ 17 billion, making him the 68th richest billionaire on the Forbes billionaire list for 2020.
A statement on the website of PPF Group, an investment firm founded by Kellner, describes “his incredible work ethic and creativity, but his privacy belonged to his family.”
