COLUMBIA, S.C. – If jurors do not know if a South Carolina father should be sentenced to death for the murder of his five children, a prosecutor said that they should be content to examine the five garbage bags where he had left their bodies in a rural area of Alabama.
Lawyer Rick Hubbard told a jury Thursday that Timothy Jones Jr., 37, deserved to be executed instead of being sentenced to life imprisonment. According to Hubbard, this would be like sending "Timmy to his room".
Defense counsel, Casey Secor, asked the jurors to severely punish Mr. Jones for life without the possibility of parole, but to be compassionate for his family in order to prevent that. they no longer suffer death.
The same jury in Lexington County who sentenced Jones in August 2014 for five counts of murder for the murder of his children aged 1 to 8 years will deliberate on his sentence.
