Lately, everyone has commented on Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' joke about Ezekiel Elliott, including the running back agents.

On Monday, Jason Witten intervened too.

Jones joked "Zeke who?" following the impressive performance of rookie Tony Pollard in the Cowboys' second pre-season game against the Los Angeles Rams. Elliott agents went out Monday, saying they found the remarks disrespectful.

While surprising young athletes at Dick's Sports Goods in Euless, TX, Witten answered a question about what he thought of what the owner said.

"Very good, it's beautiful," says Witten. "For Tony (Pollard), since his arrival here, what incredible camp he has had, you will certainly have a high level of talent to play in this league, especially during the running, but your instinct, when present like that, that you learn quickly, you will understand and adjust.

"It's a great opportunity for him – they probably would not have been able to afford it without Ezekiel here."

However, Witten went on to say how valuable Elliott was.

"I think Zeke is the best running back of the National Football League, and his state of mind and his running are good, but it will be a good ride for us, and I thought it was a nice comment and, like everyone else, I hope Zeke is here sooner or later. "

The veteran also asked if Jones' comment would have bothered him if he had referred to Witten.

"No, that would not bother me, it would not bother Zeke either," Witten said. "Believe me, there is no one who loves Ezekiel Elliott more than Jerry Jones."

Elliott's agents certainly have a different interpretation from Witten's. Only time will tell if the comments will have an impact on the OR reserve.
