Dana White started 2021 with a warning to those who forged UFC fight online broadcasts. Without saying anything specific, the UFC president simply said he had a “surprise” to expect from those involved in such activities.
White recently spoke to The Mac Life about doubling down on his fight against online piracy.
“We have been one of the leagues that have been so proactive on hacking,” White said. “I love how cool and tough these guys are acting on social media because let me tell you what, we caught a lot of people. Let me tell you what they do: they cry. They cry and they beg not to be pursued and all these other things.
“We’ve just overcome a huge hurdle in the hacking world and we’re going to catch some of these guys in 2021 and can’t wait to cry and beg. We’ll see how tough they are when they get caught.
Aside from unauthorized distribution of his product, White’s other big concern is that people give out personal information, only to be ripped off and stolen.
“So if you go through my Instagram and go through all the comments there’s a guy that says, ‘DM me if you want to fight this weekend.’ It steals information from people, ”White said. “People who send him a message steal their information.
“He takes your money from your bank and charges your credit card. These guys are f-king scumbag criminals.
“They will never all go away. They’re going to be there, and we’re not trying to get rid of them all. I just want to catch a few. That’s all I’m looking for. You can’t stop everything, this hacking industry is going to go on forever. Let me grab a few and watch what happens – and I will, oh it happens.
The UFC could expect more cases of hacking this year, especially after ESPN decided to increase the prices of PPVs to $ 69.99. These new fares will begin with UFC 257.
