Ken Jennings apologizes.
the Danger! champion, consulting producer and future interim host, said in a series of posts on Wednesday that he had tweeted “inarticulate and callous things” over the years. He explained that many words “worked like jokes” in his head, but he was “appalled to see how they read on the screen”. He didn’t delete them because he thought it would “whitewash a mistake”, but he said he didn’t stick to everything he had said in the past.
“Sometimes I’ve said stupid things in a stupid way and I want to apologize to people who have been (rightly!) Offended,” Jennings said. “It wasn’t my intention to hurt anyone, but it doesn’t matter; I screwed up and I’m so sorry.
In her latest post on the subject, Jennings said, “If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we should be kinder to each other. I can’t wait to leave in 2021 with this in mind. “

Jennings’ comments come less than two weeks before he began his stint as interim host of Danger! following the death of former host Alex Trebek in November.
The announcement that Jennings would introduce clues came as no surprise to Danger! fans, who know him well. He first appeared on the show in 2003, when he appeared in 74 straight games – the longest winning streak in the show’s history. In 2011 he played and lost to the IBM Watson computer. He beat his comrade Danger! Champions James Holzhauer and Brad Rutter to win the show’s Gnew all time prime-time tournament. Jennings has become so associated with Danger! that he joined the series as a consulting producer and sometimes appeared to provide clues when the 37th season debuted in September.
That doesn’t mean everyone was happy with the announcement that Jennings would step into the role of Trebek, even temporarily. Actress Yvette nicole brown and others on Twitter opposed the choice, citing his past tweets. According to IndieWire, Brown pointed to one from September 22, 2014 in which Jennings said, “Nothing sadder than a sexy person in a wheelchair. He approached it four years later when someone retweeted his words. “I never did a public flogging for this, but I have personally apologized to the angry / hurt people who contacted personally,” Jennings said. “It was such an inane joke it meant something very different in my head [and] I regret the simple capacitist reading of it. The tweet has since been deleted.

Danger! Is showing a retrospective of Trebek’s best episodes during this week. From January 4, viewers can view the last week of Trebek recorded episodes. The first of the Jennings-hosted episodes is scheduled to air on January 11.
