Matt Amodio kept his “Jeopardy!” a hot streak alive on Friday – reaching another milestone in the game show with his 33rd win. This placed him in second place on the all-time winning streak list after only Ken Jennings, who holds the record at 74.
Scoring the 33rd win, Amodio outscored 2019 breakout champion James Holzhauer. Amodio, 30, has a total cash win now of $ 1,267,801. Since his first appearance on the July 21 episode of the series, he has correctly answered over 1,000 clues.
Amodio, a fifth year computer science doctorate. candidate for Yale University, is only the third person in the history of the series to win more than a million dollars in the regular season. He is still far behind Holzhauer ($ 2,464,216 in total earnings) and Ken Jennings ($ 2,522,700).

In Friday’s episode, Amodio won $ 55,400 after getting all three Double Jeopardy squares (by getting two of them correct) and provided the correct question in Final Jeopardy. As was often the case in Amodio’s race, the match was a runaway one: the other two contenders entered Final Jeopardy behind the defending champion’s cash total by a wide margin.
