‘Danger!’ don’t post traditional competitor photos with Mike Richards after host ouster: report

“Danger!” contestants would not have received their traditional host photos if they were among the handful of people in the games with ousted host Mike Richards.

Richards resigned as Alex Trebek’s replacement on August 20 and was ousted as executive producer of the show a week and a half later, after discovering that the podcasts he created in 2013 and 2014 contained humiliating remarks about women and minorities. His ouster came after completing a week of recording shows for the new season, and Sony couldn’t remake them without affecting the integrity of the game.

Polygon Associate Editor Samit Sarkar took to Twitter last week to share with his followers that he will appear on the show in week one of Season 38, which is also in Crop of episodes Richards filmed before getting the boot from Sony. He noted that the show appears to preemptively eliminate any evidence of the accommodation debacle by not giving contestants the traditional photo with the host.

“Btw, @Jeopardy! Applicants usually get 2 photos – one with the host + a head shot. We each took a photo with Mike, but we only sent the head shot!” he wrote.

Sony representatives did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

Richards was introduced as the host on Monday in the show’s season premiere by downcast announcer Johnny Gilbert. Not a word was mentioned about his status as Trebek’s replacement; if it had originally been, it was cut out.

The former replacement host’s time on the show can be hard to cut as it comes during a potentially historic win streak for candidate Matt Amodio.

OLD “RISK!” CHAMPION JAMES HOLZHAUER APPLAUDS DISMISSAL OF MIKE RICHARDS

While there have been several champions in game show history, none have won their matches over more hosts than the 30-year-old PhD student from New Haven, Connecticut. Amodio began his time on the show long after Trebek’s death. , winning match after match at the most chaotic moment in series history as large numbers of guest hosts filled in each week. His 19-game winning streak so far has seen him answer questions from Robin Roberts, LeVar Burton, David Faber, Joe Buck and Richards.

Fortunately, Amodio recently told the Washington Post that unlike previous champions, the person reading the questions doesn’t take their gameplay into account at all.

“Frankly, the last thing I think about when I’m in the middle of a game is who’s hosting,” he told the outlet ahead of the Season 38 premiere. “I’ve seen people say : ‘Oh man, you switched to your fourth host, that must be difficult.’ And I would say, “Well, you’re right, but I didn’t even realize it, necessarily.” Because I’m trying to get these really dark facts out of my brain, and it takes all of my energy. mental health that I can afford at the moment. “

Prior to Monday’s game, Amodio had won $ 574,801 in 18 games, placing him in third place on the “Jeopardy!” list of the all-time highest payouts in regular games, behind only legendary players James Holzhauer and Ken Jennings who took home $ 2,462,216 and $ 2,520,700 respectively. Amodio’s performance on Monday night earned him $ 642,601. However, these players won many more games than he did before their run was over. He currently sits fifth on the list of most consecutive wins of all time, so he still has time to catch up.
