‘Danger!’ executive producer causes an overnight sensation after Covid forced him to host

Following departure from Danger! Legend Ken Jennings After his six-week stint as guest host, executive producer Mike Richards stepped in to fill the shoes of the great Alex Trebek. Although Danger! has several high profile guest hosts lined up, like CNN’s Anderson Cooper, TodaySavannah Guthrie and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, many have had to be postponed, as Richards explained Monday when he first took the stage as host.

“I’m the host today and for the next two weeks to maintain the biggest quiz in the world,” Richards said. “We have some amazing hosts coming that I can’t wait for you to see. But with the COVID outbreak here in Los Angeles, people were understandably a little reluctant to shoot. So as a producer my job is to literally live the mantra, the show has to go on. So let’s do what Alex did 8,244 times. Let’s play Danger! and prove that nothing can stop this show.

Danger! Fans immediately turned to Richards, and many have called on him to become a permanent host.

Richards kicked off his second day of welcome on Tuesday with a beautiful cry to Trebek.
