‘Danger!’ the candidate did not receive a photo with Mike Richards

Mike Richards no longer serves as host and executive producer at Danger!, but the series will deal with the fallout from his reign for a while.

In one example, contestant Samit Sarkar, whose game is scheduled to air on Friday, wrote on social media last week that contestants had not received a souvenir photo with the host, as is usually the case. Sarkar’s game is scheduled to air on Friday, the last day of what was supposed to be Richards’ first week as permanent host. It is also the very first week of the 38th season of the television series.

Sony Pictures Entertainment, which produces Danger!, did not respond to Yahoo Entertainment’s request for comment regarding Sarkar’s statement.

Richards parted ways from the show last month after racist and misogynistic comments he made, as well as workplace discrimination lawsuits involving him, came to light. Still, the prerecorded episodes aired as planned so the game wasn’t disrupted. Heading into Tuesday’s game, contender Matt Amodio was on a 19-game winning streak.

Behind the scenes, a search for a replacement host is reportedly underway. Richards was selected from a pool of applicants that included Mayim Bialik, who had previously been chosen to host prime time Danger! specials in the time she has free to star in the Fox sitcom Call me Kat, journalist Robin Roberts, actor LeVar Burton, NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers and many more.

All of this, of course, is an effort to replace former host Alex Trebek, who died of pancreatic cancer in November. Before his death, the beloved host had hosted contestants – and, yes, posed for photos with them – since 1984.

The show continues to honor Trebek in multiple ways. On Monday, the producers announced that they had renamed the Culver City, Calif., Soundstage, where Danger! movies from scene 10 to scene Alex Trebek.
