The search for a new “Danger!“The host is reportedly set to be close and viewers are not thrilled with the show’s alleged choice.
On Wednesday, Variety announced that executive producer of the game show, Mike Richards, was in “advanced negotiations” to fill the window left empty after the death of Alex Trebrek in November 2020.
The outlet alleges that Richards, 46, impressed Sony brass with his on-air presence after being a guest for a few weeks.
But fans online were more impressed with other hosts such as Take Burton and Mayim Bialik.

“In the form of a question, ‘Who is Mike Richards?’” One person joked. Twitter.
“YALL COULD HAVE AN ICONIC WHOLE BURTON LEVAR BUT YOU CHOOSE CHAD MCWHITERSON FOR… WHAT ???” wrote another fan. “I just saw the picture of this guy and FORGOT WHAT HE LOOKED LIKE. That’s how he is the model face. I’m so bored.”
“Levar Burton had 1 week, instead of every other guest host’s 2 weeks. And, his week was during the Olympics, so pre-empted in many places. This choice is disappointing but not surprising,” noted someone else.

“Come on all of you, did you SEE how amazing Mayim Bialik was to host? I don’t want to see you organizing all those weeks of interim accommodation just to literally pick the guy who’s already in charge,” said a viewer.
A Sony spokesperson said Variety that negotiations with several possible candidates were underway, although the representative did not elaborate on Richards’ negotiations.
A source familiar with the situation told the outlet that other contenders remained in the mix and Richards’ role as host was not yet guaranteed, but he was a favorite.
Richards previously hosted the shows “Split” and “The pyramid“, both for Sony.

Before joining the “Jeopardy!” Richards produced more than 4,000 hours of game shows last year, Variety reports. He first came to Sony via ABC’s famous version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.”
In addition, he won a number of Daytime Emmys for his television work, including a win earlier this year for “Jeopardy!”
