Daniel Bryan gets another shot to win a Universal Championship game against Roman Reigns.

In this week’s episode of Talking Smack, it was announced that Bryan will face Jey Uso in a steel cage match at SmackDown next Friday. If Bryan wins, he will challenge for the Reigns Universal Championship at Fastlane. If Uso wins, Bryan must recognize Reigns as the Tribal Leader, Table Leader, Best Wrestler on the planet, Undisputed Universal Champion, and the main event of WrestleMania.

Paul Heyman said on Talking Smack that he was cleared by Reigns to offer Bryan another match against Uso. Bryan agreed but wanted it to be a steel cage match. Bryan has said that – if he loses to Uso – he’ll shake Reigns’ hand and recognize Reigns as the best wrestler he’s ever been in the ring with. Reigns agreed to make Bryan vs Uso a steel cage match.

Last night’s SmackDown was headlined by Bryan vs. Uso. Bryan would have had a chance at the Reigns Universal Championship had he won, but the match ended in a double count. Reigns then attacked Bryan as Bryan had Uso in the Yes Lock after the game. Bryan put Reigns in the Yes Lock, but Uso gave Bryan a superkick. Reigns then hit a spear at Bryan and put him in a guillotine.

Bryan won the SmackDown Elimination Chamber match at Elimination Chamber last Sunday, but immediately had to fight for the Reigns Universal Championship. Reigns came out of Yes Lock and quickly beat Bryan with a guillotine.

It was told on SmackDown last night that the original tentative plans for Fastlane were Bryan and the men’s Royal Rumble winner, Edge, teaming up against Reigns & Uso. Edge didn’t seem happy that Bryan potentially got a title shot ahead of the Edge challenges for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 37.

There was a behind-the-scenes segment on last night’s SmackDown where Bryan said his odds of beating Reigns were better than Edge’s. Bryan said that – with the rust from Edge’s ring and how long it took off – he doesn’t know if Edge has what it takes to defeat Reigns.

Fastlane will take place on Sunday March 21. This is the last WWE pay-per-view before WrestleMania 37.
