Now that the Philadelphia Eagles are ranked 12th instead of 6th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, it’s a good time to familiarize themselves with the first-round options newly available to them. We touched on this concept a bit our latest overview of the simulation project but I also thought it was helpful to use Daniel Jeremiah’s updated Top 50 Lead Rankings as a guide. Always interesting to consult the analysis of the former Eagles scout. Keep in mind that we’ve taken quarterbacks off the roster assuming the Eagles won’t actually be in the market for one.

2 – Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU (N ° 3 in the general classification)

- Some still laugh at Pitts falling to No.12. I don’t see that happening.

Albert Breer indicated that the Eagles have fallen in part due to hopes the Cincinnati Bengals could take Chase at No.5.
- Waddle to the Eagles at # 6 had been buzzing. Now Waddle at # 12 is the most popular pick on our roundup.
- Smith is another possibility for the Eagles’ pick. So, in DJ’s opinion, the Eagles might be able to get one of the top three non-QB prospects at No.12.
- Interesting to see that Jeremiah has Slater in front of Sewell. Not impossible, the best player on the board at No. 12 could be a tackle.
- There’s a lot of talk about the Eagles taking a cornerback at No.12. In my conversation with Sports Info Solutions earlier this month, they questioned the use of spending a primary resource on a Cover 2 corner.
- There doesn’t seem to be a strong consensus on the rankings of the Edge Rusers. Jaelen Phillips is 22nd overall for DJs, but he’s just had a great professional day and some really like him. Rousseau, only 20 years old, is intriguing but a little unknown after a change of position and not having played last year. Paye’s athleticism is remarkable but his profile worries me given his age (23 as a rookie) and his limited production. I don’t want to see Paye at No.12, but it’s a conceivable choice with how Howie Roseman values the trenches.
