“I was in Atlanta because I was shooting ‘[Black] Panther, ”Kaluuya explained. “I was scared, I erased my schedule. I was like, “I really want to do this.” And then I just didn’t get the invite, man.

“I was not invited. So I was just in my bed – someone texted me, ‘This is really well done’ and I was like ‘Okay that’s cool.’ “

When Norton tried to reassure the actor that it had to be an accident, Kaluuya replied, “You don’t want to be in a place you don’t feel wanted, do you feel me?”

Kaluuya and Peele have attended many other premieres and events for the film, including the Oscars – where Peele won Best Original Screenplay for the film and Kaluuya was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role.
