Actor Daniel Mickelson has died at the age of 23.
Described as a “rising star”, Mickelson was best known for his role in the American series Hands, and the independent horror film The killer clown meets the candy man.
The news was announced by Mickelson’s sister, model Meredith Mickelson, who shared a photo of the couple together as children on Instagram.
Next to the photo, she wrote, “My heart is broken and writing it feels so bad to me and I don’t even know what to say. Yesterday I lost my brother, my best friend and the other half of my heart.
“There was no one I loved more on this earth. There are no words that can do it justice that I could write. to know him was to love him. he was the happiest of the brightest smileys that exist and i am so happy that god chose me to be his sister for all his amazing life.
No cause of death has been disclosed.
Tributes were paid to Mickelson on social media, with actor Patrick Schwarzenegger writing under Meredith’s Instagram post: “Pray for you.
“So sad to hear that. RIP,” Paris Hilton wrote, while Kate Moss’s sister Lottie Moss wrote, “Meredith, I’m so sorry, my heart goes out to you.”
Cindy Crawford model and daughter Kaia Gerber paid tribute to Mickelson in her own Instagram post.
“I remember the time we sat on the couch and spent all day inventing our own secret language that we kept talking every time we saw each other,” she wrote.
“I wish we could go back. I wish we were still talking in sentences that probably annoyed everyone but made us crack every time. I wish I was still sitting on the floor in my FaceTiming bathroom, as this was the only place I had wifi and I never wanted to miss a call from you.

Mickelson’s girlfriend Maddie Haley wrote, “I don’t want this to be real. Words can’t even describe how I’m feeling right now.
“Last night I lost my best friend from all over the world. I feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest. Daniel, you were the nicest person I have ever met.
