Danny Green is happy to join the Lakers in free agency

Danny Green did not have the chance to participate in the immediate burst of transactions at the origin of the NBA free agency.

As a member of the reigning Toronto Raptors, Green's fate is inextricably linked to that of (former teammate) Kawhi Leonard. Two of the three teams interested in Green (the Lakers and the Raptors) were also waiting for Leonard. Green was therefore forced to wait for Leonard to make his decision. Once Leonard chose to go to the Clippers, Green almost immediately announced his move to Los Angeles to play for the Lakers, and he is now at full speed with his new team.

Green had already said that the Lakers were an obvious destination because of the presence of two superstars. In the last episode from his podcast, "Inside the Green Room", Green explains in more detail why he wanted to join the organization:

"I'm excited, I'm not going to lie. Notice, the plan was to be here [Toronto]it was No. 1. Obviously, things have changed in this direction. I leave a good place, but I go to a place that is not too bad either.

"They have an excellent team and an excellent foundation, so I can not wait to get back to the West. I look at all the positives when I go to a new city, I reinvent myself a little. but obviously, they lead me to be the same person as me.

This player is someone who can give size to the wing and help to space the ground around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Green is a 40.4% professional shooter with three points and shot 45.5% from the back of the arc last season with the Raptors. He also posted a career record of 48.7% last season from two points. It does not seem to show signs of decline at age 32.

The Lakers have not signed the star talent they hoped for in the off season, but Green is far from a consolation prize. He is a recognized veteran who has been successful in high pressure situations with several types of composition. Although the Lakers will take time to gather, Green has great hopes:

"We have a good group of guys, we could potentially do something special."

And if someone knows how to do something special in freshman with a new team, it's Danny Green.
