Darcy Lewis’s MCU Future May Fix Avengers: Endgame’s Jane Foster Mistake

Darcy Lewis’s supposed role in MCU projects beyond his WandaVision comeback may correct a mistake Marvel made with Jane Foster in Avengers: Endgame.

Darcy Lewis returns to the MCU in WandaVision and actress Kat Dennings has confirmed that she is working on “things” for Marvel, which means the MCU can correct a mistake it made in leaving Jane Foster out of it. Avengers: Endgame. Darcy, aka Dr. Lewis, joined SWORD and FBI agents stationed outside the Scarlet Witch hexagonal fence, which Darcy dubbed “The Hexagon.” Importantly, Darcy was recruited by SWORD for her expertise in astrophysics, having pursued a doctorate in the field following her internship with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) at Thor.

When introduced to the MCU, Jane Foster was known as one of Earth’s greatest astrophysicists, but she was mysteriously absent from the MCU after Thor: The Dark World – though she would’ve been the perfect MCU character to study and explain the multiverse timeline, alternate branches, and the Quantum Realm. Instead, characters like Tony Stark and Bruce Banner – who are brilliant engineers, physicists and biochemists – took over the role of explaining the multiverse when astrophysicist Jane Foster would have been more suited to the job.

Darcy’s return in WandaVision and the continued presence of the MCU provides the opportunity for her character to become the spiritual successor to Jane Foster, who will also return to the MCU, but in a very different capacity. When Jane becomes Lady Thor, Darcy can take over as the universe’s foremost astrophysicist and prove to be a deadly asset worthy of the overpowered beings who, frankly, are getting too much information out of nothing rather than consulting experts. Especially when the stakes of events like End of Game involve the fate of “normal” humans who rarely have a say in what happens to them beyond combatants. With its emergence in WandaVision as a prominent astrophysicist to rival Jane Foster, the MCU shows how far Darcy has come since Thor and teases how far she could go, which would right Foster’s injustice being removed from End of Game where she should have played a key role.

First Thor film, Darcy Lewis was introduced to the MCU as a Jane Foster intern, although Jane Foster is an astrophysicist and Darcy was majoring in political science at the time. The joke was that Darcy was the only candidate for the job, despite her inexperience in astrophysics. By the time Darcy appeared in Thor 2, it was clear that she had been interested in the field – no doubt inspired by the brilliance and passion of her mentor and friend, Jane Foster. Beyond that, she has become a real expert in a very limited field. Her WandaVision role has already established her as the key to SWORD understanding what is happening to Wanda and why and more importantly, what impact it might have on the fabric of reality. Since the MCU has a major multiverse arc coming up, Darcy’s role should be expanded to continue to make her the source of knowledge.

It’s currently unclear whether Darcy will return in an MCU movie, TV show, or something else. As Dennings told Extra, “There are things I did for Marvel that are happening. “ Other possibilities include video games or theme park rides (Disney adds an Avengers-themed area in Disney’s California Adventure), but Dennings primarily ruled out the potential for Darcy to appear in Thor: love and thunder. Basically if Dr Darcy Lewis could somehow sue her WandaVision As an advisor to SWORD and the Avengers, he would fill the void left by Jane Foster and give an important voice back to the superhero dynamic.
