Former Representative Darrell Issa has set up an Exploratory Committee as part of a possible congressional candidacy that could see him defying GOP representative at war, Duncan Hunter, just one year after he left for the Retreat from the House.
The Californian Republican has announced the news on his campaign's website.
"I have officially set up an exploratory committee for the 50th Congress in California," Issa told the website.

"I have received such an amount of encouragement from my supporters inside the district, the state and the country.I am really grateful for the many phone calls, messages and encouraging letters that I have received. "
Hunter, who faces several campaign financing offense charges, is scheduled to appear in court in January.
Issa, the former chairman of the House Oversight Committee, retired from Congress before the mid-term elections of 2018 after serving nine terms in the 49th district. He barely survived a hotly contested election in 2016.
His seat went to Democrat Mike Levin, one of the seats the Democrats managed to overthrow. Democrat Ammar Campa-Najjar is expected to run for the 50th round after winning a few points last year after defeating Hunter.

Hunter has the advantage of being titular, but Issa brings strong recognition to his name. President Trump has appointed him to head the US Agency for Trade and Development.

Hunter, a Marine Corps veteran, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
His wife, Margaret Hunter, pleaded guilty to conspiring with her husband to use campaign funds as personal expenses.
