Apple may have accidentally shared when the iPhone 12 event will be while a YouTube test popped up and was quickly deleted.
Several 9to5Mac readers noticed this morning that a test stream appeared on Apple’s YouTube channel for an upcoming livestream.
The date given for the video to be uploaded was September 10 (first image in the tweet below indicating the date in European format). While it’s possible the flaw could have revealed when Apple will host its iPhone 12 event, September 10 was also the date for last year’s iPhone 11 event. Maybe today’s YouTube test date stayed the same as last year?
As noted by my colleague Benjamin Mayo, this year September 10 would fall on a Thursday (unusual for Apple events) and the availability of the iPhone 12 will be postponed “by a few weeks” as confirmed by Apple. These two points make the date of September 10 doubtful.
However, if Apple had other hardware ready to go like an Apple Silicon MacBook with at least some iPhone 12 models available for late September or early October, maybe a September 10th event could be a possibility.
