Ex- "Storage Wars" star Dave Hester is again sounding "Yuuuuuup!" auction of storage bins … but he needed several months of intense therapy to get there.
Dave tells TMZ that it was in November when he woke up one night, feeling sick and had trouble breathing. His wife took him to the hospital in Newport Beach, California, where he was a victim of a hemorrhagic stroke.
The doctors performed a battery of tests and determined that he was suffering from sleep apnea. The tests revealed when he was sleeping his breathing stopped more than 100 times per hour. Oxygen deprivation as well as high blood pressure triggered the stroke.
Dave tells us that he spent several days in the intensive care unit and was then transferred to a rehab with accommodation for a month. The famous auctioneer – no doubt the face of the popular A & E show – suddenly stopped tracking forgotten treasures in the storage bins to learn how to walk and perform the most basic functions – like the shower.
He is not yet fully recovered, but he is working with neurologists and other health professionals to get in shape.
Whatever his limitations … they are not enough to keep him from his role as auctioneer.
Dave is not the only member of the OG cast to have recently suffered health problems. As we reported … ex-costar Darrell Sheets was hospitalized earlier this year after a heart attack and fan favorite Barry Weiss is still recovering from several surgeries after a terrible motorcycle accident.
