Shaun Paul Runyon killed his co-workers inside the rental home they shared in Davenport, central Florida, according to an affidavit from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
CNN has not been able to determine whether Runyon has obtained legal advice.
Runyon, who is temporarily in Florida as a contract electrician for Pennsylvania-based company J&B Electric, was involved in a physical altercation with a co-worker at a job site on Friday, according to the affidavit.
Runyon left the job site and drove to Tampa International Airport, about 70 miles west, where he parked his work vehicle, rented a car, and drove to a Target store to shop. a baseball bat, detectives said.
On Saturday morning, he returned to the rental house, where Judd said seven people were staying, “armed with a baseball bat and a small knife which was a personal knife he owned,” according to the affidavit. .
Runyon told MPs he went to the room of the coworker he fought with on Friday and beat him “until he saw ‘the importance of the brain’,” the affidavit states .
The victim was still alive when authorities arrived. He was airlifted to a local hospital but later died, according to the affidavit.
After attacking the first victim, according to the affidavit, Runyon entered another room and beat a second colleague to death. He then went to a third bedroom and stabbed another person to death after missing him with his baseball bat, according to the affidavit.
Runyon chased another colleague from the house but could only hit him on the shoulder and back, Judd said, adding that a couple and their child were also able to escape the house unharmed.
“We have no idea what made him so outraged that over 24 hours later he would come back and attempt to kill each of them,” Judd said.
“Sure. The murderer, the horrible murderer, is in custody and the community is safe again.”
