David Boreanaz has responded to his co-star “Angel” allegations against series creator Joss Whedon.
Last week Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia Chase for three seasons of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” before she was cast in the spinoff series “Angel” with Boreanaz in 1999, released a lengthy statement accusing Whedon of professional abuse. and essentially firing her from the show when she got pregnant with her first child.
On Valentine’s Day, the actor, who is now part of “SEAL Team,” took to Twitter to show his support for Carpenter amid Whedon’s drama.
“I am here for you to listen to and support each other. Proud of your strength,” the 51 year old actor wrote.

Shortly afterwards, Carpenter responded, revealing that he had also contacted her personally.
“I know you are there for me, David. I appreciate all you’ve done to demonstrate that support in private as well. Especially since Wednesday. -Thank you very much,” she wrote.

Carpenter’s initial post follows comments from “Justice League” star Ray Fisher, who accused Whedon of being unprofessional and abusing his power on the set of the 2017 film. Whedon was brought in to complete post-production and perform covers after the film’s original director, Zack Snyder, left the project early in order to face a tragic death in his family.
Fisher’s comments led to an internal investigation at WarnerMedia in which Carpenter was involved. The company announced in December that the investigation was complete and that “corrective action” had been taken. He did not specify what the action consisted of.
Most of Carpenter’s claims against Whedon were about her pregnancy. She claims the director was not happy that she got pregnant during the show and eventually fired her.

She wrote that the director “manipulated my femininity and my faith in a manipulative way against me. He attacked my character, made fun of my religious beliefs, accused me of sabotaging the show, then fired me without ceremony the following season after I give birth. “

The post prompted “Buffy” actress Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Dawn Summers for three seasons, to reveal that Whedon was not allowed to be alone with her on set. She did not give further details on the reasons or the authors of the rule.
