David Boreanaz James Marsters show his support Buffy Carpenter

Buffy actors Dave Boreanaz and James Marsters have joined the chorus of voices to lend their support to the many actresses who allege misconduct against Joss Whedon. Boreanaz, who played private investigator Angel, turned vampire Buffy the Vampire Slayer and it’s a subsequent spin-off angel, took to Twitter to back her former Buffy co-star Charisma Carpenter, who accused Whedon of abusive and unprofessional behavior in a two-part statement she posted to social media, titled “My Truth.” In the statement, Carpenter claims that Whedon made “constant, passive-aggressive threats” at him and that he was “mean and biting, openly denigrating others and often playing favorites, pitting people against each other to compete and to fight for attention and approval. Boreanaz joined other Buffy actors Sarah Michelle Gellar, Eliza Dushku and Michelle Trachtenberg alongside Carpenter. “@AllCharisma I’m here for you to listen and support each other. Proud of your strength [heart emoji][prayer hands emoji]Boreanaz tweeted in response to Carpenter’s statement.

James Marsters, who played British vampire Spike on Buffy and Angel, also took to social media to show her support for Carpenter, tweeting, “While I will always be honored to have played the character of Spike, the whole of Buffy was not without its challenges. I am not supporting any abuse of any kind and am heartbroken to learn from the experiences of some of the cast. I send my love and support to everyone involved. Whedon’s alleged misconduct stories on the Buffy and angel sets resurfaced after actor Ray Fisher accused the director of abusive behavior on the cover set for Justice League. Whedon has denied all of Fisher’s claims and has pulled out of upcoming HBO series Nevers citing exhaustion.
