The Academy of Cinema and Film Science announced that David Lynch will be among the winners of an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards in October. Actor Wes Studi, Cherina, Lina Wertmuller and Geena Davis will also be honored.
Lynch has been nominated three times Best Director and Best Screenplay for her work on The elephant man (1980) Blue velvet (1986) and Mulholland Drive (2001). This honorary award marks his first victory at the Academy.
Lynch recently played in Flying Lotus' Flamagra "Fire Is Coming" video clip. Earlier this year, his Oscar-nominated film Blue velvet received an exit from Criterion with nearly an hour of deleted scenes and alternative shots of the film.
