Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said receiver David Moore was injured in the shoulder during Thursday 's training. The news does not look promising.

"David has hurt his shoulder and he will be missing a bit," said Carroll, through Curtis Crabtree, Sports Sports KJR and PFT. "I'll let you know more when I know more."

Tom Pelissero of the NFL reports that Moore has received a second opinion about his injury, but that it will not require surgery.

Moore, however, will not recover in time for the start of the season, Carroll confirmed.

"He will be away for a moment," Carroll said.

Rookie receiver DK Metcalf had a knee surgery on Tuesday. Carroll said Metcalf would be very active next week during training, although that does not necessarily mean a return to team exercises.

The injuries give unprepared rookie Jazz Ferguson a chance for more reps.
