KNOXVILLE, Tennessee – A former pastor who repeatedly raped his adopted daughter was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
According to Knoxville News Sentinel, prosecutors have requested a maximum sentence of 72 years of imprisonment. The judge cited David Richard in the long-standing ministry and the support he still enjoys as mitigating factors.
More than 30 people came forward to support Richards during sentencing last week.
The victim was 16 years old when she reported the attack, claiming that she had started two years earlier. She explained to the authorities where they could find DNA evidence at her home and said that Richards had texted her about moving their relationship to a higher level. DNA
