Daycare workers accused of hurting two children at Missouri kindergarten

Two Missouri educators were charged with mistreatment after watching a video that allegedly injured children in their care – including an incident in which a 3-year-old was thrown across the room.

Both events occurred in February at the Brighter Day Care and Preschool in Pine Lawn, where the two women were working, the North County Police Cooperative announced in a Facebook message.

In a video, Wilma Brown appears to throw a 3-year-old girl through the room and into a piece of furniture, leaving the child seriously injured in the head, police said. The incident occurred on February 1 and the girl's family released the video earlier this week.

The child had a large gash to the head and was taken to the hospital where she received seven stitches, said Jennifer Hansen family lawyer at NBC News. Hansen said the family wanted the video made public so justice for the girl.

"This charming little girl is receiving a lot of love and support from her family as she heals from her wounds." Brown, 27, was charged with sexual abuse of children on Thursday, police said. A warrant for arrest was issued against her.

Brown's colleague, Ariana Silver, was also charged Thursday with child sexual abuse following an incident on Feb. 4.

Silver, 22, allegedly seized a 4-year-old girl by the leg, breaking her skin with her fingernails before carrying her by the foot and knocking her down on a cot, according to KSDK, a subsidiary of NBC. Police said the incident was also filmed.

Silver has been arrested and is being held on bail of $ 50,000, authorities said Thursday.

The two women are no longer employed at the daycare, said a school lawyer.

"Brighter Day Care and Preschool, Inc. has been providing quality child care and education services for thousands of children and their families for over a decade," said lawyer Timothy J.
