DC congresswoman bizarrely denies letting zebras run free

Zebras are roaming free near the nation’s capital and a local congressman raises his eyebrows, doing everything possible to deny any responsibility.

Washington, DC delegate to Congress, Democrat Eleanor Holmes Norton, bizarrely denied leaving five zebras free from a private zoo on the outskirts of the city.

Norton issued a press release on Friday proclaiming her “alibi” in the unresolved case of five zebras escaping from a private zoo in the Maryland part of suburban DC, but said the fact that she either the culprit is “understandable”.

The statement said that the possible accusations against Norton “were brought to her attention” by someone who explained that she “valued the principle of consent of the governed, especially in the struggle for the status of State for the district “as well as a contempt for” unnecessary fencing. “

“Local news reported that the zebras were released on Saturday or Sunday last weekend, a time when I was enjoying some quiet time at home with my family,” Norton said in the press release.

“My alibi is strong, but given my career as a fighter for statehood for the district, which includes years of explaining the importance of having the consent of the governed, and given my recent opposition to fencing, I can understand why the charge was laid, “she continued. “I hope that the owners find the zebras and that all involved live long and fulfilling lives.”

The release of the congressman pleading for a Washington state and an unsolicited alibi comes as five zebras galloping around Prince George County, Maryland.
