DC detective killed by wife in murder-suicide

A veteran Washington DC police officer was gunned down by his wife, who then turned the gun on herself in a murder-suicide this week, authorities said.

A family member discovered the body of Det. Timothy Eugene Francis and Christina Lynn Francis at their Maryland home on Friday after unsuccessful attempts to contact Christina and Timothy throughout the day.

Police said Christina, 41, shot dead Timothy, 50, and then herself with a handgun found at the scene.

Just 12 hours earlier, Christina shared a video of the couple’s wedding on Facebook, according to screenshots from the Daily Mail.

The post lamented that the couple got “lost in small things” and said “the wedding was not organized for a big [reason]”, According to the newspaper.

“We had 6 years of experience and [memories] who should have taken [precedence] over everything in everything we’ve done, ”she wrote.

“I love you and what we’ve had together… You and I have belonged together and always… Tim and Christina Francis together.”

She also shared a photo of her two children, calling them “her pride and joy” before adding “I love you both with my heart.”

The District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department shared their condolences and hailed Timothy as a stellar officer, with 20 years on the job.

Francis followed in the footsteps of his father, who was a detective for almost 45 years in the same department, according to the DC Police Union.
