A DC homicide detective was killed by his wife, who later shot herself to death at their home in Waldorf, Maryland, according to Charles County Police.
Timothy Eugene Francis, 50, and his wife Christina Lynn Francis, 41, were found at their home on Friday, police said.

Officers attended the couple’s home in the 3300 block of Marylea Court around 6 p.m. after a family member said he could not get in touch with his daughter.
Criminal Investigations Division detectives say evidence suggests Christina shot Timothy while herself. It is not known when or why the attack occurred.
Both were dead when officers arrived, authorities said.
Timothy Francis had been a member of the Metropolitan Police Department for 20 years, DC Police said.
“Mourning the tragic loss of our colleague and friend is extremely difficult,” Police Chief Peter Newsham said in a statement. “Detective Francis has spent two decades protecting the community from violence, and to learn that he was the victim of a homicide is heartbreaking.
Most recently, he was a detective in the homicide branch of the MPD. The branch captain told other detectives about the murder in a message obtained by News4.
“In an effort to minimize rumors, it appears at first that he was the victim of this tragic offense,” said captain Carlos T. Heraud.
