Police in Washington DC. arrested two people following reports of a suspicious vehicle near the tidal pool on the National Mall.
Saturday, the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, the Metro Police Department confirmed to Fox News that they were assisting police in US parks near the tidal basin with a sweep of a suspicious vehicle and that one individual was arrested.

“MPD is assisting US Parks Police in the 1500 block of Maine Avenue SW with a search of a suspicious vehicle that may contain weapons. US Parks Police have arrested one person and are handling this investigation , you might want to contact her for more details, ”MPD said.
Moments later, police confirmed that two people had been arrested.
“Two people are currently being held, none exceptional,” Sergeant Roselyn Norment, head of public information for the US Parks Police, told Fox News. “The surrounding area is closed due to an ongoing investigation. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.”

The alert came as President Biden and Vice President Harris were across the river in Virginia, laying wreaths at the Pentagon to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks.
Fox News later learned that the suspect vehicle was a U-Haul truck and that no explosives were found.
“A search of the truck resulted in the location of several ‘Air Soft’ rifles and pistols,” a park police spokesperson said. “The detained individuals cooperated in the investigation and were released without further incident. All roads are open at the moment.
