If you look at it properly, squint and tilt your brain a bit, it seems possible that Deadpool 2 may have unintentionally spoiled two major deaths in last week's X-Men movie, Dark Phoenix. On ScreenRant, they noticed that it could be an incredibly subtle meta-clue telling fans what was happening in the upcoming X-Men movie – although the most likely scenario is that the availability actors plays a role. Still, it's funny to imagine that Deadpool 2 was so incredibly meta that the filmmakers deliberately and silently spoiled a pair of upcoming big revelations.
First, let's examine the scene of Deadpool 2. At some point in the film, hoping to get help in his war against evil, Deadpool goes to Mansion X. Disappointed by the frustration of not having a single X -Man recognizable to participate in his crusade, Wade unveils in the hallway and monologues about injustice. In doing so, a group of X-Men including Cyclops, Beast, Storm, Professor X, Nightcrawler and Quicksilver hear and quietly close a door to prevent them from noticing their small meeting. What fans have noticed is that some remarkably absent characters from the scene have failed to get out of the scene. Dark Phoenix, suggesting that this meeting could take place during or after the events of this film.
In Dark PhoenixJean Gray loses control of his recently acquired Phoenix powers and, as seen in various promotional caravans, inadvertently kills Mystique. This is the event that triggers much of the plot; the same collapse that killed Mystic also cost the lives of some police officers, turning in one day John of a beloved superhero into a cop killer and one of the most wanted people in the world. The X-Men and the brotherhood of the mutants of Magneto do not manage to take it, but a group of extraterrestrial metamorphs finds it and manages to take it under their wing. She ends up understanding that they are ignoring her interests – and after the last epic battle aboard a train, John makes the extraterrestrial leader Vuk fly into space and detonates, the killing both.
The absence of John and Mystic in the dead Pool The X-Men came out a bit suspicious in this context, but of course, Jennifer Lawrence and Sophie Turner are both very busy and they may just not be able to stick to their schedule.
A clue, though? Quicksilver can be seen wearing a t-shirt with Nirvana's "smiling face" logo. While she was appearing for the first time in a flyer for the launch party of "Nevermind", the picture was filed in 1992 – the same year Dark Phoenix unfolds.
