DeAndre Baker has found a new football home after his gun robbery case was dropped … he is reportedly set to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs in the next few days.
The cornerback – who was sacked from the New York Giants after being hit with multiple felony charges stemming from his alleged role in a May 13 incident – will travel to KC this week and is expected to sign a deal to join the team soon after, according to multiple reports.
Baker is expected to start his career as the team’s training squad leader.
This is huge news for the 23-year-old former 2019 1st round pick … as just a few days ago he was watching VIE EN PRISON.
We broke the story, Baker was accused of releasing a semi-automatic firearm at a barbecue in Miramar, FL. and ordering revelers to give him their money, watches and other valuables.
Baker was arrested and eventually hit with several counts of theft with a gun.
But, prosecutors announced on Monday that they dropped all charges after stating that the alleged victims and witnesses to the case had become “uncooperative” and had their “unalterably tarnished” credibility.
Prosecutors say it all came from a lawyer, William dean, who represented 3 victims in the case.
“[Dean] was arrested on extortion charges related to soliciting cash payment on behalf of the three men in exchange for altered testimony, ā€¯prosecutors said.
Baker’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, was delighted with the prosecutors’ decision … TMZ Sports Monday, “The result is the correct result of dismissing Deandre’s case. We say he was extorted from day one.”
Baker has a big advantage … he was widely regarded as one of the top prospects in the 2019 Draft – and started 15 games for the Giants as a rookie last year.
