Death Valley could reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit as temperatures across a vast band of the United States reach triple-digit levels.
According to USA Today, 100 million Americans could see temperatures break through the 100 degree mark this week, thanks to the National Weather Service forecast for epic heats in Palm Springs, Las Vegas and Tucson.
The agency has placed the area between these cities under an excessive heat warning, a designation reserved for the "hottest days of the year" in which temperatures reach "dangerous levels".

According to officials, temperatures in many areas will be 18 to 30 degrees above normal for this time of year.
Although the northeast and central Atlantic coast are also grilling, temperatures will remain mostly in the 90s. Philadelphia is under heat guidance until Wednesday night.
Times were also higher than normal in Alaska. The average temperature in July for the state this year was 58.1 degrees, which is 5.4 degrees above average, reported USA Today. The largest city in Alaska, Achorage, reached 90 degrees for the first time, and the entire state recorded its hottest month of all time in July.

The National Security Council has reported that 32 children under the age of 15 have died of heat stroke this year, which is about to exceed the annual average of 38 years.
