Nine months after the studio released his first game, Disintegration, the developer V1 Interactive stops. The studio announced its closure on Monday via Twitter, thank the staff of V1 Interactive and their fans.
On its website, V1 Interactive describes itself as a small business and features a photo of staff with 27 members.
V1 Interactive was founded by Marcus Lehto and was officially unveiled in 2016, having struck a deal with the independent label Take-Two Interactive Private Division. Lehto was a veteran of developer Halo and Destiny Bungie, where he served as artistic director of the first Halo games and creative director on Halo: scope. At V1 Interactive, he was President and Creative Director.
In the summer of 2019, V1 Interactive announced its first game, Distintegration, a sci-fi first-person shooter with elements of real-time strategy. Distintegration boasted a full single-player story campaign and a “huge” multiplayer component. It was released on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One in June 2020 with mixed response. In our practical impressions of the game, we said: “Disintegration presents interesting ideas, but never learns to go out of his own way long enough for me to enjoy them. “
A few months later, V1 Interactive announced that DistintegrationThe multiplayer mode of would be taken offline.
“Although our player base has shown interest in the single-player campaign, the game unfortunately struggled to create a large audience necessary for a compelling multiplayer experience,” said the developer. “After evaluating the options, we collectively made the decision to suspend multiplayer support.”
Disintegration was disconnected in November 2020.
