We’ve seen a number of PS5 restockings over the past few weeks at stores like Walmart and GameStop, but it hasn’t been easier to get the next-gen console no matter what version you want: the standard PS5 with a disc player or the digital PS5 edition. We’re just days away from the first anniversary of Sony’s new console, and it’s still difficult to lock down a unit. Sadly, it looks like if you still haven’t caught one, you won’t receive it on Christmas. Still, the hunt continues and you’re probably wondering when stores like Walmart, GameStop, Target, and Best Buy will have more PS5 units available to shoppers. A Sony tweet confirmed that “more inventory will arrive at retailers before the end of the year,” but that doesn’t make it easier to race to get your hands on a PS5 console. It’s also incredibly nonspecific, offering no indication of where or how you’ll be able to buy a PS5, or the likelihood that you might get one in the near future.
So when will Walmart, GameStop, Target, Best Buy, or another big retailer have the PS5 back in stock? Will they be available for purchase online only, in-store, or pick-up? We’re watching carefully when more PS5 units go on sale – just know that if you want one you’ll need to be quick and potentially open to purchasing a bundle with games and accessories you can or may not want.
Where to buy the PS5
PS5 availability on PlayStation Direct
PlayStation Direct regularly opens a queue for buyers to buy the PS5 (and everything else on the proprietary site), but you often have to wait over an hour and not know if the PS5 is even available. Still, it’s worth checking out PS Direct regularly, as it’s the only store that still releases the PS5 on a fairly regular basis.
Note that finding a queue on PS Direct doesn’t necessarily mean the PS5 is in stock; it just indicates high traffic to the store. It never hurts to jump in and wait if you find the queue and will be in front of your computer for a while, but be aware that there is no guarantee that it will be in stock at the moment. moment when you will pass.
PS5 availability on GameStop

GameStop saw one of the craziest console restockings on Black Friday. Its in-store sale only resulted in dozens of people camping out of stores for a chance to get their hands on the new PlayStation console, which was in extremely limited supply. Other than that, there were a number of replenishments made available on and off the GameStop website in the form of expensive console sets, but even those sold out pretty quickly. If you don’t mind a more expensive PS5 pack, these aren’t terrible deals – you often get extra games, controllers, and accessories with your purchase. You might be faced with the option of being forced to buy items that you don’t actually want.
You can sign up to receive a stock alert from GameStop before any of these lots go on sale, but so far it’s been pretty hit and miss.
PS5 availability at Walmart

Walmart restocked the PS5 during its big Black Friday sale, but the consoles sold out in two minutes. There is currently no new information on the upcoming availability of PS5 stock. Walmart has kept all of its restockings online only so far, so you probably won’t find the PS5 in Walmart stores anytime soon. There may be a restocking before Christmas, but the store has yet to indicate anything. Dec 3 brought a restock for Walmart Canada’s website, but there is no such thing for those in the United States.
PS5 availability at Best Buy
We don’t know when you’ll be able to buy a PS5 from Best Buy again.
Best Buy has confirmed that there will be no PS5 units in stores throughout the holiday season, so you won’t need to visit physical Best Buy stores in hopes of finding a PS5 on the shelf. until 2021. We saw the stock rise on the Best Buy website without much warning before Black Friday, including in the middle of the night. Keep an eye out for yourself and you might be able to score one ahead of time. It may be available with an in-store pickup option if Best Buy’s recent Xbox restocking was any indication, but nothing is certain.
PS5 availability on Amazon
We don’t know when you’ll be able to buy a PS5 on Amazon again.
Even Amazon doesn’t know when the PS5 will be next in stock, as noted on the console’s product page.
PS5 availability at Target
We don’t know when you’ll be able to purchase a PS5 from Target again.
Target hasn’t restocked much since the launch of the PS5, and it’s unclear when it will start taking orders again.
Availability of the PS5 at other retailers
If you don’t mind paying for a more expensive PS5, you can still find the console and its accessories on reseller sites like StockX and eBay. Resale prices at StockX currently range between $ 800 and $ 900, although you can place bids to buy the console cheaper. The site has a lot of stock, so if you’re desperate it’s worth checking out if you can negotiate a decent price.
As expected, the scalpers took advantage of the situation by racking up the PS5 and selling it for hundreds of dollars more than their MSRP. All the hoarding and reselling makes the ability of the average buyer to buy a PS5 before the holidays even more of a headache, so if you’d rather not put up with it, come back here.
Where to buy PS5 accessories
The Pulse 3D wireless headset was the most difficult PS5 accessory to find in stock, and it was the first accessory to sell at major retailers. Replenishments have popped up periodically in recent weeks, although this is still not an item that you can reliably buy all the time. However, there are still a number of great headsets you can buy to go with your new PS5. Our personal favorite is the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro Wireless Headphones; Other great options include the SteelSeries Arctis 1 and the Astro A50. All of your existing PS4 headsets should also work.
Other official PS5 accessories, like the Multimedia Remote and DualSense Charging Station, are also proving popular and remain out of stock with occasional replenishments.

Where to buy the greatest PS5 games
There are plenty of PS5 games out now, including launch titles like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls. Keep in mind that many PS4 games come with free next-gen upgrades that have been reduced since launch, making it a better deal than buying the PS5 versions outright.
