When it comes to Linux for business notebooks, it's hard to beat Dell's XPS 13 Developer Edition. Now, with its latest version XPS 13, optimized for Ubuntu-Linux, Dell continues to set the standard for high-end notebook programmers.
These new laptops are based on the 10th generation Com Cor, Intel Cor i5-10210U processor. They will arrive on September 5th. In October, Dell will upgrade its notebook with Intel Core Comet Lake six-core processors. Can you say fast? I knew you could.
For networking, the latest XPS 13s use the Killer AX1650 (2 × 2) built on the Intel Wi-Fi 6 chipset. This supports the latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 standards. This means that if your routers support Wi-Fi 6 (also called 802.11ax), the speed of your network will be considerably faster.
It also offers up to 16GB of RAM, a fingerprint reader, a narrow cache around its 14-inch InfinityEdge display, as well as a 100% sRGB color gamut. Another interesting upgrade of this system is that the webcam has finally been moved to the top of the screen. So, we can finally say goodbye to the "nose cam".
These new models of laptops will work under Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. This Ubuntu will be supported for 10 years. This means that if you wanted to, you could still use this laptop in April 2028.
I do not know if I will continue to use this laptop in a decade, but I know that many developers will use it with pleasure in the years to come.
