Delta Macquarie says Delta Air Lines still deserves "outperformance"

Airlines struggled to keep pace with the market in 2019, although Delta Air Lines shares have performed better than most. Macquarie says this trend can continue.

The story back. Delta (symbol: DAL) is up almost 13% since the beginning of the year. Although this places the stock behind the S & P 500's more than 14% rise in 2019, equities are doing better than the top competitors. United Airlines Holdings (UAL) and American Airlines Group (AAL) are in the red for 2019, while Southwest Airlines (LUV) posted single-digit gains.
