When the Deltarune Chapter 2 the release date was announced, a price wasn’t set and people weren’t sure if it would be free like the first chapter. Now that it’s available, creator Toby Fox has announced that it costs nothing to download and play. However, the full five-chapter game will require people to pay to play it. Fox noted, “I don’t know the price yet, but it will definitely cost more than Subtitle. “For reference, Subtitle costs $ 9.99.
Fox explained why no price was set for Deltarune Chapter 2 and it’s free. Usually it’s kind of kind. Here is the full explanation from the official site.
Hi all.
The world has been really difficult for everyone lately.
So I decided to release Deltarune Chapter 2 free.
I guess like a pet cat dropping bugs at your doorstep.
I can, with some pride, show you the strange things that I have done.
I don’t know if this will help, but I hope so.
(Just one request – remember games like this aren’t normally free. If you can afford it, spend the money you saved by getting this game for free by supporting other indie developers.
If you really want to give me the money, buy the Bandcamp soundtrack. Thank you.)
As for the sequel, Fox noted that the goal is to get out Deltarune Chapters 3-5 the next time. At this point, people will be able to pay to get the entire game. However, there is no exit window for this yet.
Fox too took to twitter discuss issues with Deltarune Chapter 2 blocks itself. Apparently, people using peripherals might see this happening. While a fix is in place, Fox also recommended restarting and removing all gamepads.
We’re updating the game with a temporary fix for controller-related crashes that most people see. Instead of crashing the game, some entries will appear as “(?)” Instead. Work on a more permanent fix to actually show the controls. Windows updated now, Mac next.
