Demi Lovato in ‘Hungry’ on NBC – New TV Comedy About Food Problems

Demi Lovato watches her first regular TV gig since her Disney Channel days.

NBC has given a pilot engagement for Hungry, a single-camera comedy in which “friends who belong to a food problem group help each other as they search for love, success and the perfect thing in the fridge that will make everything better, ”TVLine learned.

Lovato has spoken candidly about his own personal eating issues, including a long-standing struggle with bulimia, in previous interviews.

In addition to playing in Hungry, Lovato is also executive producer of the comedy Universal Television alongside writer Suzanne Martin; Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner for Hazy Mills; and Scooter Braun, James Shin and Scott Manson for SB Projects.

Lovato started his small screen career on Barney and his friends (2002–2004), before being featured in the Disney Channel short series As the bell rings (2007–2008). Disney gave Lovato her first regular television role in the series in 2009, featuring her as Sonny with a chanceThe main character of Lovato, although Lovato’s abrupt departure from the series led to its cancellation in 2011. Prior to parting ways with House of Mouse, Lovato starred in a number of original Disney Channel films, including Camp Rock (2008), Princess Protection Program (2009) and Camp Rock 2 (2010).

Since then, Lovato has landed memorable recurring roles on shows like Joy, who found her playing Dani, the fleeting love interest of Naya Rivera, and Will and grace, on which she played Jenny, Will’s surrogate mother.
