Demi Lovato will star in an upcoming NBC comedy project.
The actress and record artist signed for Hungry, a one-camera comedy from veteran television and Universal Studio Group sitcom Suzanne Martin (Will & Grace, Hot in Cleveland, Frasier). The project, which also has Hazy Mills and SB Projects as producers, has a pilot commitment put from the network, which means NBC will pay a penalty if it doesn’t air.
Hungry will follow a group of friends who belong to a food problem group and help each other in their search for love, success and that one thing in the fridge that will make it all better.
Lovato, who has been open about having an eating disorder, is also an executive producer, alongside Martin, Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills and Scooter Braun, James Shin and Scott Manson of SB Projects.
If this were to go to the series, Hungry would be Lovato’s first regular TV role since starring on the Disney Channel. Sonny with a chance from 2009-11.
