Demi Lovato is strapped to star in a single-camera comedy series that won a pilot commission on NBC.
The project is called “Hungry”. He follows friends who belong to a problem eating group as they help each other search for love, success, and the perfect thing in the fridge that will make everything better.
Lovato will be executive producer in addition to acting. The series comes from writer and executive producer Suzanne Martin, who won two Emmy Awards while writing and producing on “Frasier.” She recently wrote and produced the cover of “Will & Grace” on NBC. ‘Will & Grace’ star Sean Hayes will also executive produce with Todd Milliner via Hazy Mills. Scooter Braun, James Shin and Scott Manson of SB Projects will also be executive producers. Universal Television will produce. Martin and Hazy Mills are currently on a global contract at the studio.
“Hungry” is the latest project Hazy Mills and Martin have collaborated on. Others include “Hot in Cleveland”, “The Soul Man” and “Crowded”.
Lovato is an accomplished actress in addition to being a world famous singer / songwriter. She got her breakout role in the original Disney Channel movie “Camp Rock” and its sequels. She has also appeared in several episodes of the revival of “Will & Grace” as well as in shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy”, “From Dusk Til Dawn: The Series” and “Glee”.
As a singer, she has released six studio albums to date, the most recent being “Tell Me You Love Me” in 2017. She also has several gold and platinum singles to her name, including the title track from “Tell Me You Love Me.” She was one of the lead performers on the prime time special honoring the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris last week.
She is replaced by WME, SB Projects and Schreck Rose.
