Georgia Democratic Representative Hank Johnson was arrested Thursday by Capitol Hill police as he protested the Senate’s “inaction” on voting rights legislation and filibuster reform.
“In the mind of my dear friend and mentor – the late Congressman John Lewis – I was walking into #goodtrouble,” Johnson said in a tweet with a video of him handcuffed.
The 66-year-old Georgian congressman was surrounded by other protesters detained by Capitol Hill police chanting, “Whose street? Our street. Whose house? Our house.”

Johnson spoke at the Supreme Court Voting Rights rally, where he was joined by other members of the Congressional Black Caucus, including Democratic Reps Jamaal Bowman of New York, Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri, Troy Carter from Louisiana, Jackson Lee from Texas and Al Green from Texas.
The group of demonstrators then headed for the Senate building to protest outside the entrance chanting: “This is what democracy looks like”.
Capitol Police told Fox News they had arrested 10 people for “illegally demonstrating outside the Hart Senate office building.”

It is not known if other lawmakers have been arrested alongside Johnson. All of the people were charged with “congestion, obstruction or inconvenience”.
Fox News could not immediately reach Johnson’s office for comment.
