Former President Barack Obama on Saturday criticized his fellow Democrats for creating a "circular firing squad" that targets party members who do not support the views of the left.
"Our structure of democracy requires that you take into account people who do not agree with you," he said at a public meeting organized by the Obama Foundation in Berlin. "And that means by definition that you're not going to get 100% of what you want."
"One of the things that sometimes worries me about progressives … we sometimes start creating what we call a" circular firing squad "where you start shooting at your allies because one of them "It's far from purity over issues," Obama said.
Seventeen Democrats announced their candidacy for the party's presidential nomination in 2020 and others are expected to enter the race.
