Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train won three awards at the 44th Academy of Japan Film Award ceremony. It won the award for the best animation of the year, the best score and the popularity award. Each year, the Japan Academy chooses a single film to be the best animated film of the year. For 2021, it was Mugen Form. However, all nominees receive official recognition as Excellent Animator of the Year. This year, the other nominees were: Violet Evergarden: The Movie, Chimney Town Doll, Stand By Me Doraemon 2, and Josée, the tiger and the fish.
The Demon slayer The film’s soundtrack also won an accolade. Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina, the composers of the film and the show, received the Outstanding Score award. The other nominees in the Outstanding Score category were: Fukushima 50, Wire, The voice of sin, and Tora-san, I wish you were here.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train is the highest grossing film of all time in Japan. He broke the long-standing record held by Studio Ghibli Abducted as if by magic. Otherwise, Mugen Form has a worldwide gross amount of $ 417 million, making it the first Japanese film and the first anime film to exceed $ 400 million. The film will premiere in US and Canadian theaters on April 23, 2021, and its digital release is scheduled for June 22, 2021.
