Denis Shapovalov was forced to hold out in his Australian Open first round match against Jannik Sinner on Tuesday.
Shapovalov raged at the referee during the game after being denied a break to use the bathroom for relief, according to Reuters.
“What if I leave?” he asked the referee. “Am I fined? I don’t care.”

“What do you mean I can’t go?” He continued. “Are you going to disqualify me? I have to pee! I’m going to piss my pants! I’m going to piss in a bottle! You don’t allow players to pee? I don’t understand this rule!”
Players are entitled to two bathroom breaks per five-set match, but only between sets. Shapovalov was reportedly turned down because a player who requested medical time out could not leave the pitch while waiting for help. He was allowed to leave court at the next break, according to Bro Bible.

He called the rule “stupid” and said he should have been allowed to urinate because of his small bladder.
“I have the smallest bladder ever. I literally have to pee in every set so it’s hard when you’ve been on the pitch for so long,” he said after the game. “I have the smallest bladder ever. I literally have to pee every set so it’s hard when you’ve been on court for so long.
“I think we should be able to take more breaks and go to the bathroom because we … could be in the field for more than three to four hours,” he added.

The Canadian walked away with the win although he was forced to hold it back, beating Sinner 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
