Harry How / Getty ImagesThe Los Angeles Lakers completely demolished the Golden State Warriors in the first half of their prime-time game – so much so that the most notable highlight from the start was Steph Curry slapping Dennis Schroder on the nose.
The play in question, which occurred in the second quarter, is actually a decent litmus test for hoop fans on what should constitute an offensive foul on a jumped shot. Curry rigged and threw himself into defenseman Schroder, nailing the Lakers guard in the process. Schroder, meanwhile, did bite down on the pump and entered Curry’s shooting space, so he was whistled for the foul. But during the replay, Curry appeared to have initiated contact and the Lakers disputed the call.
In the end, the play was confirmed, which didn’t satisfy Lakers fans on Twitter, nor Schroder. He started complaining to the Dubs star, who seemed to walk in and offer a half-hearted but non-confrontational explanation. Since the Warriors had lost around a billion points, Curry’s teammate and brother-in-law Damion Lee decided to jump in and spice things up, which angered Schroder and forced his own teammates to to gather.
As is the case with most NBA scrums, nothing actually happened. But since Curry and Schroder couldn’t speak properly, they can in fact remain mortal enemies forever.
Plus, I have to be honest: this one looked like an offensive foul.
