Fuller reunites with Broncos head coach Vic Fangio who was the Bears ‘defensive coordinator a few years ago and Ed Donatell who was also the Bears’ secondary coach.
He’s a 5-11, 194-pound cornerback who played his seven NFL seasons with the Chicago Bears. Over those seven seasons, Fuller totaled 377 tackles, 82 pass deflections and 19 interceptions. Last season, Fuller totaled 62 tackles, 8 pass deflections and 1 interception.
The addition of Fuller, who is a legitimate number one turn, and his pairing recently signed Ronald Darby away with Bryce Callahan focusing more on the slot machine could give the Broncos one hell of a good secondary in 2021. Add one Healthy Von Miller paired with Pro Bowler Bradley Chubb and the Broncos can easily have a top five defense under Vic Fangio.
Just look at the percentage of passes Fuller allowed during his time in the NFL. This past season for the Bears, he has hit 53.7% of his goals and his career average is 52.3%. He’s also only allowed 3 touchdowns or more once in his career and it was his rookie season when he allowed 4 touchdowns. So he’s been a hell of a good turn and is a great addition to the Broncos’ secondary.
This addition also makes the Broncos’ 9th overall selection very interesting now. Before free agency started, you had cornerbacks Patrick Surtain or Caleb Farley mocking the Broncos. Now, with Fuller and Darby signed when free agency opens, it dramatically reduces the Broncos’ chances of making it through the first round of the draft.
