ENGLEWOOD, Colo .– If Denver Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is cleared for the final stage of concussion protocol on Saturday morning, he is expected to start on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bridgewater, who suffered a concussion in Sunday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens, has progressed every day this week toward more fieldwork. He took part in the team’s tours on Wednesday, then trained on Thursday and Friday.

After being cleared to participate, the Broncos made him work with the starters for the majority of snaps in both practices with the expectation that he will start on Sunday. Bridgewater will be assessed by an independent doctor on Saturday before the team’s visit to the suburban Denver facility and the team will then depart for Pittsburgh later in the afternoon.

“Right now he’s made good progress, he’s clear up to this point,” Broncos coach Vic Fangio said after Friday practice. “They will decide (Saturday) for the final verdict.”

When asked what Bridgewater has looked like over the past two days, Fangio said “good”.

Bridgewater suffered a concussion on his last first-half pass attempt on Sunday. He was hit after being thrown by Ravens linebacker Odafe Oweh, was briefly examined on the sidelines and taken to the locker room.

Bridgewater had already taken several big hits in the game, including one that knocked off his helmet in the first quarter.

The eighth-season veteran has always been praised for his work on and off the field in September without a defeat for the Broncos. He entered last Sunday’s game as the league leader in completion percentage, and a first-quarter touchdown pass to tight end Noah Fant gave him five killer assists in the no-number season. business.
