Deploying Chrome 77 for Android: New Downloads Page, Sharing "Send This Page"

[ad_1]

After the Mac, Windows and Linux version, Chrome 77 for Android is deploying. There are improvements to the download page and greater availability of the "Send this page" share.

Chrome already allows you to check which tabs are open on devices connected to your Google Account. Version 77 adds a "Send this page"Functionality accessible from the system share sheet. Although the "Send to your devices" target with the Chrome icon may appear when using custom Chrome tabs, sending only works in the browser.

Pressing will open the "Send to" list of all your Chrome devices, with the name, type, and last "active" date. On the recipient side, an alert (showing the name of the page, the URL, and the sharing device) appears on the notification center of your operating system to open the link. This feature began to be used at the end of July and should now be available to more users.

Chrome 77 for Android alters the Downloads screen by removing the menu located in the upper left corner. Instead, the browser uses buttons to filter between different types of content, while larger previews of recorded images. Another change is an "Articles for you" tab that displays content automatically stored by Google. This feature is not yet available.

Site isolation now protects cookies, HTTP resources and other cross-site data, even if you visit "websites controlled by attackers". In Chrome 77, security was "enabled on some Android devices to protect websites and data where mobile users enter passwords."

Google is a big believer in Web applications that are becoming as powerful and feature-rich as their native counterparts. Chrome 77 for Android starts the original tests of a Contact Picker API that "allows users to select entries from their contact list and share limited information about selected entries with a website".

It allows users to share only what they want, when they want it, and facilitates their contact with their friends and family.

Chrome 77 for Android and desktop is being rolled out, with Chrome OS next week.
